Teaching Tip
The electronic interactive notebook has been created to replace the traditional TCI Interactive Notebook. In addition to lessons created by TCI, students use blogs, wiki pages, an assessment portfolio and a variety of software applications in their notebooks. The notebook is created in a Microsoft Word Document, with hyperlinks to every task, assignment and assessment. Students will need access to either a computer or netbook. Their notebooks can be stored on either google.docs or your school districts network.

I’ve been using TCI products/History Alive since 2000.
I like the idea that technology has increased and makes many things convenient. However the interactive notebook shold not be one. The essence of learning is in the hand (when available) and the mind’s eye. For those whom have limbs a former teacher once related that, he who memorizes (without writing) imprints in water and he who imprints with the act of writing, imprints in stone. Scientific connections of the data done in one’s own writing is more lasting. Of course for those whom have not the limbs must exercise the mind to efficienly imprint as in photogenic memory. Again, I know the mind can do such yet the hand connection is naturally, kinesthetically an easier connection to make.
In either case, keep using TCI and History Alive. The hands on brain based program works. I’d sell it myself if I could get Bert to hire me!
